Individuals who experience the following, are at an increased risk of developing breast cancer-related lymphedema (examples):<\/h5>\n<ul>\n<li>Had an axillary lymph node dissection (ALND)<\/li>\n<li>Had regional lymph node radiation<\/li>\n<li>Have a high body mass index (BMI)<\/li>\n<li>Used Taxane drugs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h5>Lymphedema is an accumulation of protein-rich fluid in the tissues, which results in swelling of a body part. It has been referred to as \u201cCancer Treatment\u2019s Dirty Little Secret\u201d due to limited education on lymphedema risk reduction prior to onset.<\/h5>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Where<\/strong><\/h3>\n<h5>Lymphedema can occur anywhere in the body.
