About Dr. Melinda Butler:
Dr. Melinda Butler OTR/L, OTD, BCPA, has been a licensed occupational therapist since 2004 and hails clinical and management experience in every adult setting. Dr. Butler is the President and CEO of Therapy Strategies Plus, PLLCT, where she provides consultative services to health care professionals and non-medical caregivers of older adults. In this capacity, she has assisted in the development of two senior care DVDs. She has also authored three articles for All About Seniors Magazine and has authored and taught multiple workshops including: An Overview of Dementia: Prevalence, Prevention, and Practical Tools for Caregivers; Understanding Medicare: Benefit Plans, Coverage, and Consumer Rights; and Get Heart Smart: Improving and Maintaining Heart Health. Other CEU seminars include Functional Geriatrics, Writing Functional Patient Goals, Preventing and Preparing for Medicare Audits, and Ethics for OT. Dr. Butler also serves as Director of Rehabilitation at a skilled nursing facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. There she has lent her expertise in grant writing, writing and producing video training modules, created assessment tools, patient/caregiver training materials, and new hire training workshops. Dr. Butler was a selected presenter at the 90th annual AOTA National Conference Expo in 2010 and is a member of AOTA. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Nebraska and a Clinical Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.
